I believe everyone knows the feeling of working up the courage to get out of the bed. Then working up the courage to get dressed and put on makeup. Then working up the courage to leave the house. For me, that’s usually paired with a drink and documentation of the process in the form of Snapchat selfies. Today we live in a selfie society where everything gets documented. In my concept video, “Selfie in 60,” I wanted to capture some of the typical things that occur when getting ready – trying to achieve the perfect selfie to boost your mood for going out. I wanted the video to end on a traumatic note by having the phone die in the end. I want it to feel like a horror film towards the end, or at least a thriller. That's why I ended it with the laugh from Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Nothing is worse than your phone dying the second you find the right lighting and angle. All the footage used was original and shot by me at a friend’s apartment. The footage was edited in iMovie and the background music was edited in Audacity. “Hittin the Bottle,” by Eddie Durham was the song that played in background throughout the video. I found the song in the Prelinger Archives. I felt the song in its entirety went well with the drinking motif displayed throughout the movie.
