"For my video essay, I knew that if I didn’t go the creative route, the video would not have ended up in the format that I wanted it to be. I love watching video essays on YouTube, but the style always feels so formal to me. I’m not that kind of person, I’m not that kind of content creator, and I’m certainly not that kind of actor. Given the subject matter of my project, I knew I would end up making some sort of supercut, and while that wasn’t really my intention, that’s how it ended up playing out, and I’m actually a bit proud of what I was able to accomplish. Acting is such a fickle business. You get rejected a solid 90% of the time, and I feel like I’ve been quite lucky in regards to the roles I’ve gotten to play and the opportunities that have been given to me. I’ve booked a few, I haven’t booked more. It’s just the nature of the beast. I wanted to make a video project that would not only be entertaining to watch, but would hopefully remind me why I do what I do when the chips are down. I love how acting is full of simplicity AND complexity and how there’s so much you can do with it that you might not realize on the surface. I didn’t intend for the video to be 'inspirational' per se; that might have had something to do with the music I selected, a friend’s composition from a show I did last summer. But as long as it’s shedding some light on some important issues as well as effectively communicating how I feel, then I consider it a success."
