From independent study adviser Megan Kappel, "This is a sampling of her work from this term and still in progress, but it shows the range of workstation designs she has completed, including a product label, a book cover, a restaurant menu, a poster outlining the history of the color purple, and page layouts for a gaming magazine." Abby's artist statement: "My work is an ongoing process of discovering how graphic design and persuasive writing interact and influence one another. I designed my own independent study course, Advanced Writing and Graphic Design, for this semester, and these works are a sample of what I have created this term. Although they are still works in progress, I feel they demonstrate the wide range in which writing can shape the design of a piece based on the audience and what message is trying to be conveyed. Typography, color, shape, and text- they all come together to create meaning in a way that can persuade or instruct the viewers. I worked to create pieces that could show this interaction in design that we encounter on a daily basis, such as menus, posters, or labels."
