Brochure and slideshow created for Dr. Janet Freburger of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences to present to the Homewood residents who offered advice on how the university might better serve their needs (Could potentially fit any category)

From Professor Elizabeth Pitts, this is one of two projects "created in collaboration with Pitt’s new Community Engagement Centers (CECs). They represent the beginnings of an effort led by Dr. Lina Dostilio, Associate Vice Chancellor for Community Engagement, to develop more responsive and effective ways of sharing research results with the local residents who participate in the university’s many research endeavors. Before designing these projects, students conducted research on best practices for effective community relations and delved into the into the history of how Pitt and other institutions of higher education have interacted with lower-income and historically black communities. In collaboration with the CEC directors and their instructor, they are designing communication strategies that respond to calls from residents of Homewood and the Hill District to make the university a more respectful and attentive neighbor. Responding to an assignment that positions listening and taking responsibility for longstanding inequalities as essential to public writing, these projects support upcoming events that the CECs will host."
